Irritable, tired, can't focus, can't sleep, but you don't feel especially worried? Anxiety doesn't always look like worry. Sometimes it's a nervous system stuck on high alert, even when your mind feels quiet.
I'm Mark Bennett, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Idaho Falls. I help adults, teens, and kids with anxiety:
Recognize the signs of anxiety, even when you don't feel worried
Understand the hidden triggers underneath it
Sleep better, focus better, and feel more at ease
We accept most insurances

Anxiety isn't just worry. Excessive worry is part of anxiety for many people, but many others with anxiety disorders don't think they're worried about much at all. Even when you aren't actively worrying about something, your nervous system can stay on high alert. That can still lead to panic attacks and other symptoms of anxiety.
Anxiety is also one of the most common causes of irritability and trouble focusing. Not every "ADHD symptom" is caused by ADHD. Sometimes it's anxiety.
Signs anxiety may be affecting you:
Excessive worry or overthinking
Irritability or a short fuse
Trouble focusing or concentrating
Trouble falling or staying asleep
Feeling tired or drained
Panic attacks, even when nothing seems wrong
Tension, restlessness, a racing heart, or an upset stomach
Anxiety often runs below the surface, so the first step is learning to notice it. I draw from CBT, ACT, and Internal Family Systems to help you understand what's driving your anxiety and calm it. Together we'll work on:
Noticing the early signs of anxiety in your body, thoughts, and mood
Getting to know subconscious anxieties that may be driving your symptoms
Discovering what kinds of things trigger your anxiety
Practical skills to help your nervous system settle
Both can make it hard to focus
Both can make you irritable
Anxiety can also disrupt sleep and drain your energy
The right help depends on the real cause
Not every "ADHD symptom" is caused by ADHD. Since I offer both ADHD assessment and anxiety treatment, we can sort out what's really going on and treat the right thing.
Anxiety looks different in a 6-year-old, a teenager, and an adult. Here's how I help each.
For adults who feel on edge, tired, or irritable, even without knowing why.
Worry and overthinking
Panic attacks
Poor sleep, fatigue, and trouble focusing
I help parents validate worries and support brave steps, without feeding avoidance.

School coordination and accommodation recommendations
Anxious kids often show it as meltdowns, stomachaches, or irritability rather than worry.
Fears, nightmares, and separation anxiety
School worries and social anxiety
Big feelings and meltdowns
Answers to what people often wonder before starting.
Yes. Anxiety is one of the most common causes of trouble focusing and irritability. Not every "ADHD symptom" is ADHD. An assessment can help sort out which it is, or whether it's both.
Yes. Many people with anxiety disorders don't think they're worried about much. Your nervous system can stay on high alert anyway, causing panic attacks, poor sleep, tiredness, or tension.
That's common. Many anxieties are subconscious. Part of our work is getting to know those hidden anxieties and noticing what kinds of situations set them off.
Yes. I work with children, teens, and adults, and I involve parents so they can support their child's progress at home.
In-person in Idaho Falls or telehealth anywhere in Idaho. I accept most insurance plans.
An optional free 20-minute phone consultation. Specifically ask for it. Default is a regular appointment. We'll talk about what's going on and whether I'm a good fit.
We'll look at how anxiety shows up for you, uncover what's triggering it, and set clear goals together.
We'll practice skills between sessions and help your nervous system feel safer, week by week.
Whether anxiety shows up as worry, panic, irritability, or exhaustion, you don't have to keep running on high alert. Reach out to schedule an appointment or a free consultation.
